James Potter is a Partner with Treacy & Company. He has over a decade of experience working with management on issues related to strategy, growth, innovation, and corporate entrepreneurship. He has served in both an external advisory role to senior management and well as an operating member of several Fortune 500 strategy units. Additionally, Mr. Potter was the founder of 2 software-as-a-service startups, one of which was acquired in 2013. His most recent work with Treacy & Company has focused on helping large organizations navigate new adjacencies as well as build the corporate venturing and M&A capabilities required for success. He has extensive experience in industrials, financial services, software, and consumer durables.
Prior to joining Treacy & Company, Mr. Potter was a senior member of the corporate strategy team at Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), a global consultancy specializing in the interrelated sectors of human resources and financial services. At MMC, Mr. Potter worked primarily to develop the long-term strategy of the organization with the newly appointed CEO, set up the organization’s growth management processes, and establish a ventures group focused on emerging new business opportunities.
Mr. Potter received his BBA from the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts and currently resides in the rural town of Groton, Massachusetts with his wife and two dogs.
